Black Friday Marketing Statistics and How to Make Your 2011 More Profitable

Its almost Black Friday and if you have a retail or ecommerce business then Black Friday is something you have to pay attention to. In this top holiday marketing blog post I am going to talk about some of the things that you can start to do to help direct your business in the optimum direction to take advantage of the Holiday marketing session.

The first thing to consider is giving yourself a bench mark. You need to have some kind of Black Friday marketing dashboard or some way of tracking your marketing success. If you don’t know where you been, its going to be hard to measure your progress. If you have never measured your marketing progress during black Friday then don’t worry the time to start is now.

When Business Coaching…. I try to help my clients find some of the lessons we are given come from the mistakes we have made in past events so take a little time to look through your previous years and look your sales during Black Friday. So take stock of your past success by tracking the sales you had last year.

Then after you track your success, reflect a little on the challenges, the bottlenecks you experienced and look for ways you can fix them for this holiday session. There is a lot of profit that is left on the table simply because we don’t learn from our challenges. So save yourself the challenges you experienced last year and learn from them. This is as simple as asking yourself the questions “What did I do well last black Friday” “And what can we do better this year”

Now this year make sure that you do this at the beginning of December while your experience is fresh in your mind. Then save the notes for next year.

Every business you could ever imagine will provide you with time sensitive opportunities to become more profitable for the retail world. In many cases these time sensitive opportunities will sneak up on us making it a challenge to reach the deadlines we need to reach in order to make something like Black Friday reach its profit potential.

I think a lot about how to become one of the best business coaches in the world.   And one of the ideas I keep in front of my mind is how to use the 80/20 rule.   The 80/20 rule applies to the different time sensitive moments that you can get new business. So if you don’t grab these moments to make more profit then we are going to end up missing the boat on a lot of opportunity. For those of you that do not understand what the 80/20 rule is…its the rule that states that 80% of what you do will equate for 20% of the results you get and 20% of what you do will equate for 80% of the results you get. Keeping that in mind its important that you take advantage of black Friday for your business even if you don’t have time to do something different with your marketing.
