Long Term Business Goal Talk Description
You’re first step when creating long-term business goals is getting clear on your highest most idealistic and holistic outcome for any business situation we want to create. Its the same for the Entrepreneur focusing on their small business marketing as it is for the sales manager wanting to get her team asking for the sale more effectively.
The easiest way for me to take an honest look at my highest potential when setting long-term business goals is asking myself the right kind of questions.
I didn’t invent the idea of asking good questions to get myself into the appropriate place when creating my business goals. In fact, I believe the question I am about to ask you is considered the miracle question in some schools of thought.
But either way, it is one of the questions I always ask my clients (as well as myself) before we get involved in a long-term business goal-setting session.
That Long Term Business Goal question is:
“Lets pretend something amazing happened when you weren’t looking and when you showed up to work tomorrow..everything you ever wanted from your business or career was already taking place.”
How would things be different?
What would your life consist of?
Take the time to describe this in detail. The more detail you write about this, the more effective this exercise becomes. The reason I want you to describe this long term goal in as much detail as possible is because; normally when I am coaching a client I will ask a bunch of questions that will pull together all of the moving parts to make sure that we move forward together from the beginning in a way that ensures I get every possible outcome my client could ever want to receive.
But since we are not working together on that level to reach your long term business goals, I just want you to write your this goal in as much detail as possible and do your best not to forget anything.
Describe your results as well as your experience in your work environment because they both effect each other.
I want to challenge you to think big enough when you write this long term business goal down. These goals should excite you and may make you little nervous.
Then break down the different parts of the description that you wrote and ask yourself:
What will this give me personally?
What will I gain from this personally?
What will this mean for me in my life?
What you might notice is that by the third question (if you really think about it) you will start looking deeper into the values of why this long term business goal is important to you.
If whatever your describing is going to give you the values of what is really important to you…you will find yourself inspired..the more you think about it.
Your Next Step is to take the 3 to 7 long term business goals you got from your highest most idealistic optimum outcome and put them aside.
In our next long term business goals video we are going to talk about optimizing your beliefs so that you are unconsciously aligned with the business goals you have always wanted.
