There are a couple of challenges within setting that business goal that arise for most of us if we are big dreamers. And one of those challenges comes from the difference between where our beliefs are now ,while we are setting a goal and the beliefs we have to have to create the goal we are setting.
Setting a Goal…And Optimizing Your Beliefs to Create it
Our beliefs about ourselves, our industry and the economy for example will determine the choices we make with our available resources, time and money.
And that is why the most important areas to focus on when creating a result are our beliefs.
When most people think about developing the proper beliefs for business success, they miss the point because the idea of using your beliefs for success hasn’t been explained very well in very many places (especially when it comes to business goals).
Most of us fall into one of two categories when it comes to
Setting a Goal and Your Beliefs
The first is the generic “think big and you can make anything possible.” Sit on a stump somewhere and imagine what you want manifesting and the universe will deliver what you want to you door step.
The truth is when creating a specific result, you are part of that universe. So if you are not taking all the action you can, then you’re probably missing a pretty big part of your own equation when setting that goal.
Then there are the people who think that when creating a specific result that their beliefs don’t matter. And their results have to do primarily with their external situation.
The challenge with this kind of thinking is that you let go of the responsibility of your results. When you let go of your responsibility, you let go of ever having control over getting the results you want when setting a goal.
So just so you are clear about what I am talking about today:
I am talking about Setting a Goal and then using your beliefs to get a specific response in your environment.
Because, if we believe we can develop a particular skill and adapt to our changing market conditions, we get a massively different response than if we just think it’s too complicated.
Or, if we believe that our customers will buy larger amounts of our higher end products or services if given the appropriate value proposition or USP from someone they trust because of their ability to create a great follow marketing campaign, we get a massively different result than if we believe that our customers don’t want to spend money at all because we are in a recession.
Or, if we believe we are responsible for the results we want, we get a hugely different result than if we blame others…etc..etc.
So how do we design our beliefs to align up with and optimize?
“Resist any thoughts of “I can’t” And ask yourself:
If I was able to develop the work flow that would get me the results I want in the goal I am setting, what would it be?
1. Now do your best to describe the work flow to reaching the goal you are setting within seven steps.
Writing your work flow goal within seven steps keeps you thinking in big picture terms and allows us to focus on chunking down the specific short-term businuss goals a little later.
Will you have to use a small business social media marketing strategy?
Is there a business-to-business marketing strategy you have been wanting to apply?
What is going to be your fastest way to profit?
2. Outline the skills you would have to develop in order to create that work flow or small business marketing funnel.
Do you have to learn how to ask for the sale more effectively or become better at your relationship management strategy with customers?
3. Outline the potential challenges when developing those skills and developing your profit building plan.
(this will give you an understanding of the most challenging parts of your personal business trajectory)
4. As your highest version of you, as you approach those challenges, what do you believe about yourself that makes it easy for you to overcome and leverage those challenges to your benefit?
5. How can you create the ecosystem that assists you in growing the beliefs you need to overcome those or any other challenges you might face?
This will give you the beginning of your internal structure of the beliefs you have to have to overcome any obstacles you face.
Do you need a goal partner or someone who supports you with the setting of goals. Do you need a coach, do you need to surround yourself with inspiring people?
Do the best to create a ecosystem that supports the beliefs that you need to hold as you create a new reality.
